Bri grew up in the north east where she had a later start to playing competitive golf than most high school recruits. Bri qualified for the 1999 US Girls’ Junior Championship which put her on the radar for the college coaches. Finding the right fit for her growing golf abilities and academics was a top priority for this rising golfer and her family.
Bri started her college golf career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After playing at UNCG for two years Bri knew she wanted to be apart of a more competitive program and transferred to North Carolina State University. At NC State she had five top 10 finishes, was two-time MVP (2003, 2004), and finished 10th individually at the 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Championship.
Bri turned professional in 2005 and played full time on the Epson Tour until 2013. In Bri’s golf career she has competed in two US Women’s Amateur Championships (2002,2004), winner of 2004 Massachusetts Women’s Amateur, competed in two US Women’s Open Championships (2004,2009), was winner of Golf Channel’s Big Break VI – Trump National (2006), and has recorded 9 professional wins.
Bri retired from playing full time on the Epson Tour in 2013 due to a thumb injury. While recovering from thumb fusion surgery in 2014 and deciding on whither to return to playing full time she worked at Country Club of Orlando as an assistant golf professional. Bri first started working at CCO in the winter of 2009 cleaning golf carts to have somewhere to practice in the off season and help fund her travels on tour. In 2014 she started working full time and was 2nd assistant to Head Golf Professional Jay Davis. Then in 2016 she earned her PGA Class A membership.
In 2018 Mark Blakefield, Bri’s husband, got full status on the Korn Ferry Tour and Bri left her job to caddy for Mark. Although her caddy career was short lived she enjoyed being by Mark’s side and supporting his career.
Bri credits a lot of her professional success to her amazing experience playing college golf for Page Marsh at NC State. Bri understands the importance of finding the right fit for players when they are deciding on what school to attend. She hopes to help future college golfers find the right program where they can find success that can help them grow not only as a player but as a person.
Bri has been married to Mark for 6 years and they reside in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Together they have three children Matthew, Brooks and Brynlee.
